Water Damage

Case Study

Our client owns a rental property which suffered water damage to ceilings, walls and flooring after a pipe became disconnected.  As this was a low-value claim (approx. £2,500), our Claims Manager, Lisa, acted promptly to contact the Loss Adjuster and stand them down when it became clear their involvement was not required.  Loss Adjusters are typically appointed to investigate circumstances, assess damage, and provide independent expertise on more complex or higher-value claims. Drawing on her experience and sound claims judgement, Lisa recognised that the case could be progressed effectively, directly with the insurer and without the involvement of a Loss Adjuster. Acting quickly to stand them down helped prevent unnecessary fees, while ensuring the claim continued to be managed efficiently and proportionately.

Lisa juggled communication with the client, insurer, managing agent and loss adjuster.  There was also a door adjustment claim because the floor level had changed as a result of the water damage.  Lisa secured cover for door adjustment works and temporary tenant accommodation, while the work was undertaken at the property and ensured the claim was settled efficiently.

Outcome: Full settlement achieved, additional costs covered, and a very happy client.
